A Cautionary Tale: My Unfortunate Experience at The Ritz London

I recently traveled to London to meet my dear friend, Nancy Binz, a remarkable lady who has been instrumental in my career. We were there to celebrate her 92nd birthday, a momentous occasion.

During my stay, I encountered a distressing incident. I have a habit of keeping my cash money in my pants pocket. One evening, we went to have dinner with friends, and I changed my clothes and left the pants with the money inside the room closet.

The next day, I found out that two thousand dollars were stolen, I informed the security and left them to do the investigation. When I came back to Cairo, I received a rough and disappointing email from the security department saying that they have not been able to identify any evidence of the theft.

Also, my room had no safe and that’s a big and unprofessional mistake from such a big establishment. The hotel security said that Nancy offered me to use her safe and that's true but her safe had no space as it was full of her jewelry.

I want everyone to read this story and share that it’s not safe to stay at the Ritz London.

I will talk about this again and again until I am reimbursed and my rights are respected.

Zahi Hawass.
