New Discoveries in Luxor
I'm happy to see that our press conference in Luxor yesterday was a success. Over 300 Egyptian and foreign press attended in the shadow of the temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El-Bahari.
I announced the discovery of over 1500 blocks with beautiful colorful scenes with the cartouches of Hatshepsut and Thutmose III. We now have the complete program of the valley temple of Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple and we found the temple’s foundation deposit and evidence that Thutmose III restored this temple.
We also found a large cemetery dated to Dynasty 17, containing Rishi coffins, one coffin is tied with ropes, along with bows and arrowbows used to fight the Hyksos.
Additionally, the team found the tomb of the overseer of Queen Tetysheri’s palace, the grandmother of King Ahmose.
These discoveries are the first major royal discoveries since the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb.
